Steps in the creating of an encaustic painting
Using the shibori method I create
with indigo dye. It is waiting to be painted into.
Adding the first layer, hiding some areas and
highlighting others.
More layers of color bring out shapes and lines
to be emphasized.

Encaustic and Shibori Process
The beautiful Japanese art of folded
and dyed fabric combined with
lace and wax resist.
The same piece painted with yellow dye.
