Making a Mandala!

 Hello Everyone!

    Happy Spring! During this time when we are all practicing social distancing and trying to keep busy with some positive activities I am going to post some art projects in the coming weeks that I hope you find interesting and helpful.

   The first is one that I myself needed to do and a very helpful one for centering: 

    So here are the steps! There is no right or wrong way to do this. Use your favorite materials: colored pencils, watercolor, markers, acrylics, ........ 

• First draw a dot or circle in the center of your paper. I used a pen to do this. Then create a shape around that circle or dot
• Next, draw lines, curves, shapes or anything that comes to mind, like doodling. 
• Continue out to the edges of your paper, either symmetrical or off center a bit
• Color the shapes in as many colors as you would like OR continue drawing
• Have fun!   .  .

Your child will be introduced to the foundations of drawing, painting and sculpture in an ENGAGING creative environment. Students will have FUN creating original art work and inspiration will flow from the great artists of the times!

After creating birds, mono print butterflies, mummies, mandalas, folded books, salt textured watercolors, resist bird paintings, origami books, foil fish, sea turtles,  and dream/treasure containers, we closed the week with an Art Show attended by enthusiastic parents, relatives, friends and of course the student artists!

Each day we will explore a different theme:              

Birds and Butterflies                              

Learn how to draw and  paint these beautiful flying creatures who live in our own backyards while looking at artists for inspiration. Learn about color, shading, and texture.

Ocean: Splash

 Be inspired by all the colorful and awesome creatures we find living in water!  

Be an Explorer                     

Have fun while you explore a different culture.

Folded Books         

 Create your own book in words and pictures using paint, collage, glue, thread and more!

Spring Art classes starting March 3 and 14

Join the fun as the class learns drawing and painting skills after school and on one Saturday a month!

Narragansett Art Festival June 28 and 29

Come to the Narragansett Art Festival this coming weekend June 28 and 29! It will be held right in front of the towers with a beautiful view of the ocean. A great way to participate in a local event and meet artists.  Lots of artists will be there and I will be there to display and sell my watercolors, drawings, small books, and collage work. Hope to see you there!
