Collections for Inspiration

 

Vintage buttons, lace, metal findings, 

cloth flowers, iris pods, driftwood, stamps, 

Victorian beadwork, trims, pincushions, 

scraps of my watercolors, cyanotypes, scratchboard, 

handmade papers, silk embroidery, dried flowers,

 fabric scraps, old quilts, milliners flowers, 

letter stencils, old engravings.

Metal Embossing as covers for books

These embossed metal pieces were created using lace, seed pods, dried flowers, and metal screening. Each object was placed underneath the metal and then pressed to pick up their textures. 

 

Patterned and Painted Paper techniques for artist's sketchbooks

It's autumn so I like to use leaves, both as stencils 

and stamps. Watercolor works perfectly with 

both techniques.

Moving fall foliage and dried flowers around the page 

can help you come up with some cover ideas.

 

On a Walk for Inspiration

     This is something I found on a walk this week. Taking a walk is something I try to do every day. I also like to record and take pictures of things that I find along the way. It's a great way to find inspiration!
     You could try this by collecting your own found objects on a walk or out in your yard. These eggs were made of sand but small stones can be used or some other round objects. Have fun!
